Poster Design
As a summer student assistant at UBC Branch for International Surgical Care (BISC), I designed a poster for the Reconstructing Women International (RWI) fundraiser gala. The fundraiser raises money so RWI can provide reconstructive surgery for women with disfiguring injuries in India. I included a silhouette of India to emphasize where the funds will go.
Annual Report
The annual report showcases the branch’s accomplishments, timeline, courses and programs.
Infographic
Lastly, I designed an infographic that shows BISC’s latest milestones as part of the annual report.
Process
I started by gathering all the information and images I will need for the projects. For example, for the infographic, I looked through the branch’s archive, website and student database to collect the numbers. The photos are all sourced from BISC’s own library.
Next, I sketched out rough layout ideas on paper.
Here I selected a couple of layout ideas and test out variations on InDesign or Illustrator. I also followed UBC’s brand guidelines for colour and typography for a more cohesive look.
I made changes to the designs until my supervisor and I were satisfied.
